Berkadia is strategically adding investment sales talent to keep pace with regional growth and anticipated 2020 momentum

Washington, D.C. – January 17, 2019 – Berkadia has announced the addition of Senior Managing Directors Drew White and Bobby Meehling and Managing Director Paul Hanafin to its Washington, D.C. investment sales team.

“We’re excited to add such seasoned brokers to our team in Washington D.C., a region where we anticipate strong development and sales opportunity in 2020 and beyond,” said Keith Misner, SVP and Head of Investment Sales. “Drew, Bobby and Paul have tremendous experience working with institutional clients, which will be invaluable for us in the years ahead as the multifamily sector remains essential as a vehicle for relatively stable and defensive investment with potential for strong return.”

These hires come on the heels of the addition of Cameron Webb and Louis Jacobe to Berkadia’s Washington, D.C. investment sales team in the fall of 2019.

White brings more than 25 years of multifamily experience to Berkadia, with a particular expertise in cultivating growth across the region. He previously served as Executive Managing Director of ARA Newmark’s Washington D.C. office, overseeing the entire Mid-Atlantic region and serving as lead broker on the majority of ARA Newmark’s listings in the metro region. He co-founded ARA’s Mid-Atlantic office, where he was involved in more than 150 sales over five years, including a number of record setting transactions in suburban D.C. He has also worked at Cushman & Wakefield and The Apartment Group.

Meehling joined Berkadia from CBRE, where he served as Senior Vice President. Across his 25-year career, Meehling has developed strong relationships with many of the large owners of multifamily assets throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and has closed more than $3 billion in over 200 multifamily transactions, focused on properties in the D.C. area.

Hanafin joins Berkadia from Savills, where he served as Corporate Managing Director specializing in the real estate needs of institutional investors, developers, and nonprofit organizations throughout the D.C. metro area with a focus on investment sales, development assemblage, and site acquisitions. Over the course of his more than 25 years in commercial real estate, Hanafin has been directly involved in transactions totaling over $5 billion. Prior to Savills, Hanafin worked at Insignia Financial.

“D.C. is an incredibly strong market, with high occupancy, consistent rent growth and lots of healthy development,” said Jeff Coles, Senior Director of Berkadia’s D.C. Metro Investment Sales group. “With the addition of the experience and expertise of Drew, Bobby and Paul we’re positioned to continue the aggressive expansion of our capacity to help clients identify and capitalize on strategic opportunities in D.C. that has already been underway with the work Cameron and Louis have been doing.”

Webb and Jacobe joined Berkadia from Marcus & Millichap, where they worked together on a team led by Webb that closed more than 100 transactions.
