Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Eglae Recchia, Senior Vice President – Product, who sits on the innovation team, to learn more about her new role at Berkadia and what she is most excited for.
Describe the new role you landed at Berkadia.
My role is SVP of Product. In that role, I help connect the dots across our organization and define the digital strategy that we look to deliver at Berkadia. I am responsible for leading a wonderful team that works with the business, understands their problems, looks for solutions, designs those solutions, and partners with engineers to bring them to life.
What part of your role are you most passionate about?
I love connecting the dots and problem solving! And honestly, I thrive in partnership, and luckily, that’s what my role usually requires the most.
Did you choose CRE or did CRE choose you? What drew you to Berkadia?
CRE chose me many years ago when I was working on the strategy team of Capital One. Since then, I’ve chosen CRE continuously over the last decade and a half! What drew me to Berkadia were the people – the culture and the emphasis that is placed in that culture. It truly feels like a place that wants to build you up and help you succeed – and isn’t worried about giving you the tools to do that!
What are you most excited to work on within your role?
I have a great vantage point of what we are trying to do – and a sneak peek into the future of Berkadia’s digital journey. I love learning from the business about what our future business strategy is, from engineering to what the future of technology is, and being able to put those two things together!
Where do you envision your career going? What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself coming into the CRE industry?
Hopefully I’ll continue to grow, learn the business and see where it takes me. I believe in agile methodology, always figuring out where you are going next due to new information you are gathering – and not being afraid to pivot!
I’d tell my young self to keep on learning, keep on asking questions, keep on challenging the status quo. This industry needs people that are always looking to get better at what they do!
How has your time at Berkadia helped to accelerate your personal or professional development?
I’ve only recently joined, but I’ve been extremely happy that I have found great partners that challenge my thinking, give me information to make better decisions, and teach me about Berkadia and the industry. It sounds corny, but I’ve been amazed about the culture here. How great it is to work with people that lift you up! And please know that if I ever meet you in person, I’ll ask a thousand questions to understand you and what you do better. I can’t wait to meet you!
