Nitya Shukla Quote

How would you describe your role at Berkadia?

Mine is a business-focused role that entails establishing resource planning to meet cycle time for requests received from Mortgage Bankers in our US offices. These requests span a variety of business products supported in the shifts we operate in. I also mentor new Leads and assistant managers, prepare development plans for the analysts who require focused attention and identify training needs. Beyond this, I am responsible to ensure that career development discussions are being conducted timely to build on key strengths and the development areas for analysts. At the apex is the requirement to collaborate with business leads and managers working in different shifts to achieve organization goals of satisfying customers through the delivery of high-qualitative services.

What part of your role are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about enabling and supporting my team members in their career development. Setting them up for a journey of continuous learning and working on a relationship based on the exchange of ideas. I encourage colleagues to explore diverse opportunities to leverage the best that Berkadia has to offer and build an efficiencies-oriented mindset.

What has surprised you recently?
Our new hires have been going the extra mile to cater to the needs, objectives and challenges of their peers, supervisors and the stakeholders. It amazes me how beautifully they have adopted the Berkadia Way culture, tools and frameworks. They understand it well and have been exhibiting its principles while dealing with others. They have surprised me positively by imbibing the essence of Berkadia Way.

What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself coming into the CRE industry? What is the best advice you have received?

My advice would be to stay receptive and develop a curiosity and knack for questioning. Be confident and believe that you will be able to achieve anything with your efforts and diligence. Keep challenging yourself and strive to have the flame of continuous learning stay ignited even if you feel that you have reached where you aimed to be. The best advice which I have received is to concentrate more on my strengths rather than my weaknesses.

When you’re not helping Berkadia move the industry forward, how do you spend your time?

I love spending time with my family and friends. Recently, I have discovered my passion for baking which gives me immense pleasure and works as a stressbuster.

How has your time at Berkadia helped to accelerate your personal or professional development?

Berkadia has been instrumental in shaping up my career in a positive way. I have been fortunate to experience both the Production Operations and Servicing Operations facets of the business. Starting out as an Analyst with Berkadia, it has given me a different perspective of what learning, success, team spirit, adaptability and perseverance are. The application of Berkadia Way frameworks, and especially the Outward Mindset, in our day-to-day life has had a colossal impact on my personal and professional life.
