What has surprised you most about Berkadia?
The great culture. Some organizations brand themselves as having a great work culture, but that doesn’t always translate into actions. Everyone is supportive and leadership wants you to succeed.
What led you to Berkadia?
I have a background in higher education. Prior to applying to my role, I had not heard of Berkadia and knew nothing about the commercial real estate industry. My initial interest in Berkadia was the position. I was looking to make a career change and was interested in roles where my skills, experience, and passion for diversity would translate. Making the decision to come to Berkadia was not difficult. I had a wonderful candidate experience; every interaction I had throughout the interview process was great. Everyone was friendly, transparent, and most importantly authentic.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone interviewing with Berkadia?
Understand your why and be prepared with examples that highlight your skills and experiences. You should know why you want the job you are applying for and why at Berkadia. Be prepared to talk about your interest in Berkadia. There are other companies that hire for the same roles, so why do you want this role with our company. Additionally, we want to know what value you will bring to the company. It’s important to sell yourself and talk about your accomplishments.
What is your favorite Berkadia value?
We Innovate. Innovation is rooted in a culture of trust, risk, creativity, and challenge-all things I look for in positions and organizations I work for. It intersects with many of our other values. I see innovation as a building block for great people and excellence—two of Berkadia’s other values.
