Matt Mitchell advises clients on sales and equity placement for commercial real estate assets, with a focus on the multi-housing sector. Matt and his team consistently are ranked among the top sales brokers in the Tampa Bay market and across the State of Florida.
During the course of his commercial real estate career, Matt has been involved in over $8B in transactions across the nation and in nearly every asset class. Representative transactions include the $123 million sale of West Park Village in Tampa, the $98 million sale of The Element in Tampa, add the $95 million sale and financing of Gulfstream Isles in Fort Myers. Matt led the record-setting sale of Icon Central in St. Petersburg, which was the largest single asset sale in Tampa Bay history at $176 million and held the record for this highest price per unit at approximately $480,000 per unit at the time.
In addition to conventional garden-style and high-rise multifamily assets, Matt has expertise in single-family for rent (BTR / SFR) assets. He and his team have the leading market share of sales of BTR / SFR assets in the state of Florida ranging from cottage-style villas to townhomes to detached single family rental assets.
Matt joined Berkadia in 2021 after ten years with HFF/JLL, where he was head of the Capital Markets team in Tampa. Prior to HFF, he was Transactions Director at Institutional Property Advisors, and prior to that, he worked with the Investment Services Group at Transwestern as Associate Director. Matt attended Northwestern University where he obtained his Bachelors in Communications and went on to achieve his Masters in Finance & Masters in Real Estate/Construction Management at the University of Denver.
