John Chu serves as a Managing Director in Berkadia’s San Diego, CA office specializing in multifamily investment sales across Southern California and the Inland Empire. With over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate, John provides comprehensive advisory services in acquisition, development, financing, operations, and dispositions.
Prior to rejoining Berkadia in 2025, John was a Managing Director for Northmarq’s San Diego Multifamily Investment Sales, where he led multifamily advisory client coverage throughout Southern California. Prior to Northmarq, he spent eight years at Berkadia, recognized as a top-producing multifamily broker in Southern California. His earlier roles included positions at Cushman & Wakefield and Burnham Real Estate, where he was consistently listed among the top brokers.
John holds both a bachelor of science in business administration and a master’s degree from San Diego State University. He is actively involved in the San Diego Apartment Association, the San Diego Board of Realtors, and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). Additionally, he is a founding member of the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego.
