Senior Engineer, iSeries
The Opportunity
The Senior Engineer for iSeries Systems is responsible for managing Berkadia’s IBM platforms and software that supports critical business applications used to deliver servicing solutions to internal and external clients. The individual will work closely with vendors to ensure all systems are highly available and will develop procedures to ensure that maintenance activities are implemented in a way that is consistent with company goals and industry best practices. This position also contributes to the software delivery lifecycle for systems within the Servicing Application portfolio by designing and implementing data replication processes to use data from the IBM platform.
What you will need to be successful
- Must be proficient with IBM i (AS/400) operations, including PTF application, job scheduling, data replication, messaging, and journals.
- Experience with WebSphere Applications Server (WAS), CL (Control Language), Query/400, DB2 Web Query, ODBC, SQL, and SFTP
- Knowledgeable on database fundamentals, including triggers, referential integrity and stored procedures
- Experience working in an Agile Kanban environment
- Knowledgeable on Change Management practices
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining and coordinating technical support activities the iSeries platform and WebSphere environments. To include dayend setup, change management, monitoring, patch management, and operating system upgrades
- Responsible for all environments (Production, Test, Dev, DR) used in the support of the Strategy application and ensures that all code is delivered by McCracken is configured appropriately to facilitate testing and production activities. Coordinates release of custom code through process automation and release pipeline.
- Works with McCracken’s technical support personnel to optimize iSeries system performance. Coordinates and performs system configuration and data maintenance activities as needed
- Responsible for IBM i operating system object and user security. Reviews reports to ensure that activities being performed in accordance to the appropriate policy and procedure
- Responsible for administration of high availability solution used to replicate data between production and disaster recovery environments.
- Coordinate DR testing with McCracken and ensure that reported issues from the DR test are researched and fixed.
- Responsible for ETL (data replication) architecture and activities from iSeries to downstream systems. To include setup, additions or changes to UAT and Production environments
- Provide technical support on various 3rd party iSeries software solutions
- Work with internal and external audit team to facilitate compliance review of iSeries security
- May coordinate, or participate in, testing (or troubleshooting) efforts for new development, enhancements, upgrades or patching
- Coordinates Strategy data model changes with downstream system owners to minimize impact and service disruptions
- Other duties as assigned.
