Today, we’re shining the spotlight on with Saumyasri Srimushnam, Senior Manager, Development Operations, Innovation Technology, who sits in our Hyderabad, India office, to learn more about what she’s most passionate about in her role, how she’s grown at Berkadia and the best advice she’s learned along the way.
How would you describe your role at Berkadia? Is there a typical day for you?
My role is like a basket that is delicately balanced to include multiple focus areas of managing people, ensuring timely software delivery, providing overall technical vision and leadership, and nurturing a healthy and collaborative engineering culture. A typical day might include attending several team stand-ups, a few one-on-ones with direct reports, a meeting with a potential technology partners and some quiet time to think and plan. Besides ensuring I have a pulse on what needs my attention, I try and identify where we are hitting roadblocks or facing problems so that I can support by navigating these to overcome them. When the needs for my teams are met, I spend time on strategy and looking forward.
What part of your role are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about finding solutions and helping people. What excites me is the fruition of seeing the hard work. While I work in Innovation, I see my role as being that person behind the scenes making the magic of projects work as envisioned by people and delivering value in that form.
How has your time at Berkadia helped to accelerate your personal or professional development?
I have learned much at Berkadia with the opportunity to look across all the business domains and different working teams. This has introduced me to new technologies, leadership styles and connected me with mentors who have provided guidance for exploration and innovation.
What is the best advice you have received?
A mentor encouraged me to read more books. Books gives us access to some of the greatest minds and ideas that we wouldn’t otherwise have access to any other way.
When you’re not helping Berkadia move the industry forward, how do you spend your time?
I enjoy spending my time traveling to different places. That was not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so I cooked a lot and kept engaged through virtual conversations with family and friends. I spend time exploring on what’s upcoming and next in the automobile industry.
